An early exhibition of American art in Germany. Herta Wescher was responsiblefor selecting the exhibits and writing the catalogue text, which ends as follows: "We can only hope that the Franco-American ex-change, which has already generated such fruitful effects, will soon expand beyond further borders. The fact that this exhibition was initiated by a German painter, Wilhelm Wessel, the chairman of the West German Artists” Federation, appears to confirm Germany’s keen interest in international developments. Today, young American art is showing a strong physiognomy of its own for the first time. We hope that this will not fail to make an impact on the German art world.” The exhibition was first on display at Haus der Heimat in Iserlohn, and then moved to Kunstmuseum Düsseldorf. Both the poster and catalogue feature a metal relief by Claire Falkenstein (born in Coos Bay / Oregon (USA) in 1908, deceased in Venice in 1997).
