Because Bonn had become in 1949 the seat of the Federal Government, from Berlin prepared exhibition "Berliner Künstler" took place. To the exhibition committee belonged: Bernhard Heiliger, Karl Hofer, Max Kaus, Hans Kuhn, Karl Schmitt-Rottluff a.o. Foreword by Walter Holzhausen, text by Will Grohmann. Participating artists among others: Karl Hartung, Werner Heldt, Karl Hofer, Karl Heinz Kliemann, Max
Pechstein, Karl Schmidt-Rottliff, Heinz Troekes. The accompanying catalogue says: "... The exhibition features one hundred and fifteen works of art by thirty-five painters and sculptors ... it has rightly been pointed out, in view of the foreign exhibitions in Germany, that the western world, be it Paris, London, New York or Berlin, follows similar impulses in the arts and that a common consensus has already been achieved.
Compare the poster by Joseph Fassbender to the same exhibition in Amerika-Haus Munich some months earlier, order no. 24900 !
